If there is one thing about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy that impresses everyone, it is his ability to infuse humour in one of the toughest jobs in the Indian sporting arcade. After sharing the frame with Ajinkya Rahane in an interview before the first game that saw the Indian opener having a fine banter with his deputy, in a press conference 48 hours before the second game, it was turn for a young Ishan Kishan to have a laugh with the Indian skipper.

Kishan made his Test debut against the Islanders, notably a handful of days before turning 25. However, he didn’t really have much time to express his craft with the bat as the Indian captain declared with India positioned well at 421/5. In the pre-match presser ahead of the second Test match of the series when a journalist asked for a birthday gift for Ishan from Rohit, he in turn responded by seeking a unique gift from the southpaw himself, sending everyone in splits.

Rohit said, “What birthday gift does he want? Kya chahiye bhai tereko? (What do you want, brother?) You have everything. We should ask the team about this. It should be the team's contribution. Birthday gift tu hum logo ko dey bhai 100- run karkey (You should give us a birthday gift by scoring 100 runs).”

Ahead of what is going to be the 100th Test played between India and West Indies, Rohit also said, “It's an honour to be taking the Indian team into this game and it doesn't happen every day. The two teams have so much history, so much good cricket played. I expect no difference in this Test. I am sure they (Windies) will bounce back and it will be exciting for both teams.”
