Cameron Green put up an all-round display to set up the first win for Australia against West Indies in the curtain-raiser of the ongoing ODI series. Bowling first, Australia restricted West Indies to 231. Green, who will be donning the Red and Gold threads this year’s IPL, was in sensational touch both with the ball and the bat to help Australia surge ahead in the series.
Green’s first strike came in the 16th over of the Caribbean innings as he claimed Kavem Hodge with a good length ball in the line of the stumps. The second scalp of the day for Green was Romario Shepherd who got knocked on the pads while trying to flick the towering all-rounder’s fuller delivery. Green finished with figures of 8-0-40-2.
What seemed like a promising display with the ball would soon turn into a glorious one with the bat as he blasted an unbeaten 77 from 104 balls. He would rock four fours and two sixes during his stay in the center, showcasing exemplary batting prowess under the pump as he walked out to bat after his team lost Travis Head for four.
Out of the two maximums struck by Green, the first one came against Gudakesh Motie in the 14thover as he tipped one over long-off after coming down the track. The second of the lot came against Romario Shepherd as he planted a half-tracker over cow corner beyond the fence.
