Wasim Jaffer bats for Bhuvneshwar Kumar to be in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been in exemplary form ever since his return to international cricket and the kind of performances that the Indian quick has produced over the recent string of games, makes a strong case for him to be a part of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World cup slated to be played in Australia later this year.
His dismissal of Jos Buttler with an absolute ripper last night was just a burning ode to the kind of brilliance that he brings to the table. More importantly, he has been swinging the ball both ways of late, and it just isn’t on surfaces where the bowlers would make merry but even the flat tracks of the subcontinent have been singing paeans to a rampant Bhuvi.
He left Jason Roy weirdly scampering around in the first three deliveries and once the sides were changed, he would stun the English captain Jos Buttler with a peach as the ball flew past Buttler’s defenses and left his timbre in flames. Watching Bhuvneshwar bowl, former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer has been vocal about his inclusion in the Indian world T20 squad. “In international cricket, a bowler who swings the ball will have most of the batters struggling, especially with the ball you don't see many bowlers swinging it but Bhuvi is a great exponent of it. He's been getting it right since he has come back to the side and it was great to see him producing a good performance against a quality batting line-up. I don't see any doubt in my mind that he's going to be in the World Cup squad. He's an absolute certainty,” said Jaffer.
Erstwhile English spinner, Ashley Giles also echoed his sentiments. “Will the ball swing as much in Australia? I don't know but if anybody swings it will be Bhuvi. I think he has inked his name into that World Cup squad already,” added Giles.
India is still to bring back the likes of Bumrah, Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar together and the trio can leave a menacing impact when India flies down to Australia later this year to be a part of the biennial extravaganza.
