Team India set sights on silverware as England look to keep the series alive

It’s chapter two of the India England T20I affair and the Men in Blue has a chance to script history at Edgbaston, as the series will be up for grabs. This is Rohit Sharma’s first series as a skipper on the road and if India manages to secure the fray, it would be a grand start to the scheme of things for the Indian captain.

It was a phenomenal display from the Indian batters in the preceding contest to put up a total of 198 on the board with decent contributions from all corners of the pecking order. Rohit Sharma chimed in with a 14-ball-24 while Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda upped the ante with a 19-ball-39 and 17-ball-33 respectively. However, it was Hardik Pandya who spearheaded the Indian charge in both the departments that would witness him smashing a half-century with the bat and claim crucial figures of 4 for 33. There were other notable contributions with the cherry in the hands as Bhuvneshwar Kumar belted a couple of absolute peaches while debutant Arshdeep Singh produced swing, tormenting Jason Roy.

With all said and done, Team India could see a handful of changes as Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja will be returning to the fold for contention. It won’t be an easy task for Dravid and company to pick the perfect playing eleven, especially after a thoroughly dominant performance from the squad that took the yard in the opening T20I.

Team News:

Ideally, the Indian team would be welcoming back the likes of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. The remaining players are at the peak of their fitness too, which makes it a tough conundrum for Dravid to crack.

The English side may not be making many changes as Jos Buttler would continue leading the lines for the hosts, while they may opt for RCB all-rounder David Willey to add some extra batting to a line-up that was no match to the sheer might of the Indian bowling in the preceding game.
