RCB skipper Faf du Plessis addresses team’s key areas of focus ahead of LSG clash
The Chinnaswamy Stadium will yet again manifest into a cauldron of noise on Monday evening as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) host the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for match 15 of the IPL 2023 season.
RCB kick-started their season with a fabulous win against the Mumbai Indians, and the crowd at the Chinnaswamy will hope to see a repeat of the same, but against a formidable-looking LSG, the home team will have their task cut out.
Against MI, RCB’s opening duo of Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis put on a show to remember, but in their first away visit of the season, the batting order failed to come up on top against the Kolkata Knight Riders, a result they will be eager to overturn today.
Speaking on RCB’s Game Day preview ahead of the clash against LSG, du Plessis shed some light on how the focus is on key improvement areas and not too much on dwelling on the past. He said, “We want to look at areas where we can be better. It’s always important whether you’re winning or losing, just look at areas where you can improve and where you’re doing well. Guys are very confident to try and put in a performance to put that last game behind us.”
The Super Giants have enjoyed a positive start to the season, with two wins from three matches that sees them occupy 3rd spot on the points table. Commenting on LSG’s squad ahead of the game, du Plessis said, “They do have a very good balanced side and obviously the pace of Wood that they’ve added this year, he’s bowled very nicely. Hopefully, at this ground, it’s a little bit different where the ball does travel a little bit, so we’ll be looking to make sure we put some pressure on him as well. They are a very good team, so we have to be on top of our game.
