VVS Laxman to coach Team India in the upcoming series against New Zealand according to reports
With India’s T20 World Cup journey coming to an end at the Adelaide Oval as they bowed down to England, the Men in Blue will soon be en route to New Zealand for a six-match white ball affair. With the series slated to be played from the 18th of November, India will first be playing three T20Is followed by three ODIs before travelling to Bangladesh for another crucial series.
Going by the reports of PTI, Rahul Dravid has been rested for the upcoming New Zealand series as VVS Laxman will be deployed as the head coach with Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Sairaj Bahutule coming in their respective capacities as the batting and the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team.
VVS Laxman has previously been a part of India as the head coach in the tours to Ireland and Zimbabwe away while also managing the Indian contingent back home against South Africa. He was also in charge of the Indian U-19 side that won the World Cup in February.
Rahul Dravid will resume his responsibilities as the coach of the Indian cricket team when India travels to Bangladesh immediately after the New Zealand tour. Alongside the coaching team, the hallowed batting trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have also been rested for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
Hardik Pandya will be leading the Indian side in the T20Is while Shikhar Dhawan will be captaining the Men in Blue against the Blackcaps in the following ODIs. This will also mark the beginning of India’s preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023.
