Virat Kohli returns to top ten in the latest ICC T20I batters’ rankings
After a prolonged wait, Virat Kohli returned to the top ten in the ICC T20I batting rankings, thanks to an imperious show of domination since his return to the Indian side from the break. Virat played a stunning knock against Pakistan in the Team India's T20 World Cup opener, ushering them to a remarkable last-ball win.
His unbeaten 53-ball-82 uplifted him to the ninth position in the rankings, gaining five important spots from his erstwhile rank of 14th. He stitched a crucial partnership of 113 runs with Hardik Pandya which is now India’s best so far against Pakistan in the shortest format of the game.
Scoring a vital 40 from just 37 balls that was significant in India’s thrilling win at the MCG, Hardik Pandya maintained his third position in the all-rounders’ ranking in T20Is.
Mohammad Rizwan continued to hold the ace in batting echelons while Kiwi batter, Devon Conway climbed up to the second spot, thanks to his thunderous 92 against Australia in the opener. Suryakumar Yadav found himself in the third position with Babar Azam claimed the fourth spot. South African all-rounder Aiden Markram completed the top five list.
Afghanistan leg-spinner, Rashid Khan leapfrogged Josh Hazlewood to grab the ace amongst the bowlers while the Australian quick had to be content with the second spot. RCB leg-spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga finished in the sixth position on the table.
