Virat Kohli on the cusp of beating another one of Sachin Tendulkar’s records in international cricket
Virat Kohli has been in sensational form of late and despite a rare miss against Pakistan in the recent World Cup 2023 clash, the Indian cricket icon has already made his presence felt in the ongoing tournament with knocks of 85 (vs Australia) and 55* (vs Afghanistan). As Virat’s juggernaut continues to be on a roll, he will be standing on the cusp of a massive milestone that will see him cruise past cricket great, Sachin Tendulkar.
Virat, who has played 510 international matches, needs 78 runs to get past Sachin Tendulkar’s momentous feat of 26,000 runs and in the process become the fastest cricketer to garner this historical feat in international cricket.
Currently, Virat has 25923 runs to his name from 566 innings across the 510 matches that he has played so far. If he manages to smash 78 or more against Bangladesh, then he will get past Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest player to achieve this feat.
A total of three batters have crossed the esteemed list of international cricketers to score 26,000 runs, the exclusive club led by Tendulkar, who sits comfortably ahead of the others with 34,357, followed by Sri Lankan Kumara Sangakkara, who has 28,016 runs and the last entrant on the list is former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting, with 27,483 runs.
