Virat Kohli has the opportunity to become the greatest after Don Bradman: Kumar Sangakkara
Kumar Sangakkara, former captain of Sri Lanka is one of the greatest wicket-keeper batsmen the world of cricket has ever seen. The Sri Lankan legend had an illustrious career of 594 international matches scoring over 28,016 runs which included 63 tons and 153 half-centuries.
In the podcast, 'the RK Show' hosted by the sports presenter/broadcaster Radhakrishnan Srinivasan, Kumar Sangakkara spoke of all aspects - fitness, mental strength and commitment to the game that Virat Kohli possesses.
Don Bradman is regarded as the 'GOAT' (Greatest of All-time) of cricket. His remarkable batting average of 99.94 in Test cricket is the best ever till date and it is extremely unlikely that any batsmen will be able to break this enormous record or match it in the near future.
Sangakkara also reckons that the 31-year-old has everything to become the greatest cricketer after the great Sir Donald Bradman.
“Virat is phenomenally fit. I know, and I have seen and heard of his amazing commitment and dedication to being the best that he can be, both on and off the field – physically, mentally and skill-wise. He has the opportunity to become maybe the greatest after the Don,” Sangakkara said.
“He’s a rare breed among cricketers. Inspiration wise, one of the best I’ve ever watched in my life, across every format. What I like the most about Virat is his passion, his personality and the fact that he is not scared to show his emotions visible on the field - whether he’s captaining the side or he’s just fighting a line battle, trying to get India to win. He’s an old-fashioned cricketer. Not too many high-fancy shots, but deadly effective," the 42-year-old added.
