Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav make the ICC T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament

With the T20 World Cup coming to an end that witnessed England emerging as the champions, it was time for the team of the tournament to be announced. The kind of form that the Indian batting duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli displayed, it was obvious that they were going to make the cut for this special clique.

Ben Stokes delivered a very special performance in the grand finale of the tournament to usher England home despite an early wobble against the Pakistan pace unit. Chasing 138, England started well but soon found themselves teetering menacingly on the edge. However, Stokes and Moeen Ali combined well and helped the Three Lions roar in the final.

In the team of the tournament, there were four English players, two apiece from India and Pakistan and the remaining three were constituted by a player each from South Africa, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. For the first time in the history of the tournament, the ICC introduced the 12th Man and it was an Indian cricketer who got the nod for the same.

Kohli and SKY were the two star batters who made the cut for the prized clique after a phenomenal display with the bat. Kohli piled up 296 runs at an average of 98.66 to top the run-scoring charts of the tournament.

SKY finished the campaign with a bedazzling 239 runs that came at a staggering strike rate of 189.68. Hardik Pandya’s impressive all-round display helped him make the cut for the 12th Man of the glittering posse. Pandya will also be leading the Indian contingent in New Zealand in the upcoming T20I series.
