Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj make gigantic leaps in the latest ICC ODI rankings

It was just a matter of a couple of ODIs that entirely changed the landscape of the ICC ODI rankings as two Indian juggernauts in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took epic leaps in the latest list released by ICC on Wednesday.

Rohit Sharma lit up the Guwahati Stadium on Monday as he brought out some of his signature strokes alongside Shubman Gill’s feisty 70 while Virat Kohli rammed a rollicking century to lead the way for the Men in Blue.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli gained two spots to climb up to the sixth spot on the table while Rohit Sharma gained a spot to make it to the 8th position of the ICC rankings. Dasun Shanaka’s recent surge in form helped him bag 20 spots in the rankings to clinch the 61st spot in the batter’s list for himself.

RCB quick, Mohammed Siraj made some tidal waves to bag the 18th position of the bowling charts after a phenomenal start to the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav maintained his top-spot in T20Is, thanks to another cruising half-century and a swashbuckling ton in the series finale.

It will be interesting to see how these rankings hold after Wednesday as the Indians will be up against Sri Lanka for the second ODI of the series at the Eden Gardens, a contest that can very well seal the fate of the series if the Men in Blue are bang on their targets.
