Virat Kohli addresses the media ahead of South Africa tour
As the Indian team prepares to leave for SA, Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli cleared the air that has been surrounding him for a while.
Kohli quoted that he was informed of the decision of being stripped of the captaincy just one and half hours ahead of the squad announcement for the upcoming South Africa tests.
Virat shed light on the fact that there was no prior communication from Chetan Sharma and company about him being removed from the captaincy role. Even when he announced that he would be stepping down from T20 captaincy, there were no words exchanged about him leaving the captaincy in the shorter version of the game.
Kohli’s began by revealing that he was contacted one-and-a-half hours before the selection meeting on the eighth of December for the Test series.
"There was no prior communication to me at all since I announced the T20I captaincy decision until the 8th of December, where I got a call before the selection meeting," Kohli said at the press conference.
“The chief selector discussed with me the Test team, to which we both agreed. And before ending the call, I was told the five selectors have decided I will not be the ODI captain, to which I replied, 'okay, fine', and in the selection call afterwards, we chatted about it briefly. That's what happened. There was no communication prior to that at all," concluded the RCB stalwart.
