Very pleased with the outcome - Phil Salt on RCB's win in IPL 2025 season opener

RCB rode high on their opening partnership between Phil Salt and Virat Kohli as they laid waste to Kolkata Knight Riders in the season opener. The duo added 95 runs for the first-wicket stand as Salt played the role of aggressor-in-chief. Smacking 56 off just 31 balls, Salt set the tone for the upcoming rampage to follow suit.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Salt underlined his chemistry with Virat Kohli. He also highlighted the conditions in the second innings while also speaking about the boundary hunt during the chase. Shedding light about the partnership, Phil Salt said, “Probably the partnership (talking about the most pleasing thing with the bat), we (Kohli and I) haven't batted much together and to go out there and put in a partnership was really pleasing.”

Explaining the conditions, Salt added, “It is a ground I know and I know these guys (KKR) very well. Yes, it did (the ball came on nicely in the second innings) and you just needed to stand still and hit the ball, it does make a difference.”

He concluded by saying, “That is what we spoke about as a batting group, very pleased with the outcome. Had a great time here last year and won the trophy. Obviously there are no friends out there (in this league).”
