Try and take the right bowlers at the right time: Faf du Plessis
Sunrisers Hyderabad were the latest victims as RCB recorded a second win on the trot with domination penned in the brightest of colors on the spectrum. Batters put up a phenomenal show with the bat, spearheaded by skipper Faf who belted an unbeaten 73 from 50 balls, setting the stage for a Karthik-classic perfectly.
The bowlers would chip in with some crucial spells as Wanindu Hasaranga would put up an excellent show where he would go on to rattle quite a few records claiming five wickets on the night. Not only was he economical, but he would also create a significant dent on the SRH chase as they would lose steam mid-innings, and with a mountain to climb, they would barely reach the base camp.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Faf would talk about the game, shedding light on his incredible performance and thorough domination of the Sunrisers that the Challengers would pull off. He would say that he is not good at looking at his own footage in a comical tone with a broad smile across his face.
Talking about how he would control the innings at the start after the early fall of Virat Kohli that would kick in the infamous deja-vu of a batting collapse against the Sunrisers in the past he said, “I think we are trying to get better as a team just making sure that one of the top four creates a bit of a base. We have pretty strong hitters at the back. The games we didn’t do well, there was a big cluster of wickets in the powerplay.”
“Obviously some civility. You would just make sure that you are not getting into too much of a defensive mode. Try and take the right bowlers at the right time,” he added.
Faf would also talk about the surface saying, “This was also one of the tricky wickets. This was not one of those wickets where you would just come in and hit. It was evident that the batters would struggle for the first few deliveries. I think that was lucky for us because there was a dropped catch of DK in that one over and then he just took him apart.”
