Last month New Zealand completed a 2-0 Test series win against Pakistan. The result helped the Kiwis to climb up to the top spot in the ICC Test Team rankings. Like the blackcaps, India too had a triumphant in Tests, registering an historic Test series win Down Under thus keeping their hopes to play the World Test Championship final alive.

Speaking to Sports Today, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson lauded Team India's performance against Aussies.

“Anytime you play Australia it's incredibly tough and to play in their backyard is an added challenge. For India to go there and perform the way they did, in particular with so many injuries and players out. It was truly a remarkable victory," Kane Williamson told Sports Today.

Praise on the depth of Indian bowling unit

"You throw in the Test Championship context that's added but I think just the challenge they faced and the way they stood up, I think their bowling unit collectively had 7 or 8 Tests between them going into the last game and at the Gabba as well,” he added.

The enormous victory over the Aussies must've got the Indian team a "huge buzz," remarks Williamson.

“No doubt, India would have been absolutely thrilled, the supporters watching that match I am sure the team got a huge buzz out of that as well. Also, after such a long time away, after the IPL they went straight to Australia, so no doubt they must be enjoying their time with family,” he concluded.

After Cricket Australia announced the postponement of the Test series against South Africa, New Zealand got their berth booked for the final of the World Test Championship. The outcome of the Test series between India and England will determine who will face the Kiwis at the final. The first Test match of Anthony de Mello Trophy begins on 5th February at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
