Josh Philippe on Thursday was named the 'Player of the Tournament' for his scintillating performance with the willow for the Sydney Sixers. With 22 votes, the youngster finished two votes clear of Sydney Thunder's opening batsman Alex Hales.

The votes were awarded by the on-field umpires throughout the course of the competition. Each umpire casts a 3-2-1 vote after the completion of each fixture.

In the previous season of the Big Bash, Josh Philippe helped Sydney Sixers attain the glory, tallying 487 runs in 16 matches.

New season. Renewed passion. Same goal. The 23-year-old took his game a notch higher this time around. His unflinching desire to win matches for his side was noticeable. He has thus far accumulated 499 runs at a strike rate of over 150 in 15 matches. With a game in hand, he could end the tournament as the highest run-getter. Come Saturday, The Sixers will once again bank on the youngster to deliver the goods in the final clash.

Cricket Australia's head of Big Bash leagues, Alistair Dobson congratulated Josh Philippe on receiving the award.

"We’d like to congratulate Josh Philippe on another outstanding season at the top of the order for the Sydney Sixers and being named the KFC BBL10 Player of the Tournament," - He said in a media release.
