Indian women secured their first win of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, beating Pakistan in a lopsided encounter. It was a clinical showdown from the bowlers, spearheaded by Arundhati Reddy, who claimed three wickets while the batters did an incredible job of securing the bragging rights without much of a fuss.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Smriti Mandhana, who took the injured Harmanpreet Kaur's place, provided an update while also underlining a few intricate details which would be key for the Indian cricket team going forward in the tournament.

Speaking on Kaur’s injury, Mandhana said, “Too soon to say anything, the medics are looking at it. Hopefully she is alright.” She then shifted her focus to the overall performance of the team, stating, “As a bowling unit, we were very disciplined and in the field we were good too. We could have done with a better start with the bat, but we will take this.”

Mandhana concluded by talking about the NRR and the kind of catalyst that this match will be, stating, “We were thinking about it but me and Shafali weren't able to time it well. So we didn't want to get to a place where we were chasing the game, but NRR is surely in our heads. This game will give us some momentum and hopefully we can keep going in this tournament.”
