They will get 20 wickets on any surface - Sourav Ganguly heaps praise on Indian bowling unit
Jasprit Bumrah was in stunning form against England in the first innings of the second Test at Vizag as he shredded through the English batting unit, claiming a six-fer.
The star pacer first displayed his master craft when he set up Joe Root perfectly by bowling an inswinger on the off-stump followed by a delivery that angled away from the batter, forcing a defensive maneuver and eventually the nick. He followed it up with a toe-crushing yorker that sent Ollie Pope’s timbre cartwheeling.
With such an impeccable display from Bumrah, former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, had an impressive pitch-related suggestion for BCCI, which was purely reflective of his admiration of the current Indian bowling unit.
He posted on X, “When I see Bumrah Shami Siraj Mukesh bowl. I wonder why do we need to prepare turning tracks in india ..my conviction of playing on good wickets keeps getting stronger every game .. They will get 20 wickets on any surface with ashwin jadeja Kuldeep and axar .. batting quality dropping because of pitches in last 6 to 7 yrs at home ..good wickets are a must .. india will still win over 5 days...@bcci.”
Bumrah registered his 10th fifer in Test cricket and now just trails Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, who have 11 in the longest format of the game. He also claimed his 150th Test wicket, another impressive feat and a blazing testimony to his mind-blowing brilliance.
Ahead of start of play on Day 3, India have a lead of 171 runs, with openers Rohit Sharma (13*) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (15*) at the crease.
