The Indian pace attack can be a dangerous one: Danish Kaneria
Mohammed Shami was in destructive form last night as he wreaked havoc in that final over, claiming three wickets and effecting a run-out, that crippled Australia, helping Team India secure a morale-boosting win at the Gabba ahead of their T20 World Cup opener in Melbourne on Sunday.
More importantly, he executed his yorkers with clinical precision, a deadly yet rarely used weapon by fast bowlers in the shortest format of the game in the modern days. As India continues to find varied avenues of attacks in the death overs, the inclusion of Mohammed Shami can be a telling factor in the upshots of the contests.
Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria was all praise for India’s fast bowling maven as he talked about how difficult it is to come into action straight away from the dressing room. Add to it the crunch of the situation where he had to defend a modest number in the final over.
Talking on his Youtube channel, Kaneria stated, “It is not easy to just come out of the dressing room and get onto bowl. He bowled really well in that final over. Harshal Patel looked a bit better today, the rhythm was not there, but he managed to execute his yorkers well."
He further added, “Once the World Cup begins, the Indian pace attack can be a dangerous one. It seems like a good and balanced bowling unit."
Mohammed Shami has always been known for his swinging abilities with the new ball and when he was handed that final over, it was never going to be easy for the seasoned campaigner. However, he kept his nerve and was bang on his money, claiming three crucial wickets and restricting Australia 6 runs short of the finish line.
