The atmosphere is amazing with the team: Harshal Patel
As the T20 World Cup is almost upon us, India will be desperately looking to get a fix to their death over bowling, a major aspect in T20 cricket, something that has not gone India’s way in recent times.
With Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the T20 World Cup a lot of eyes will be on the available options that include the likes of Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh. Harshal has so far shared a bumpy ride in the blue threads since he returned from an injury for the series against Australia at home.
In the gruelling format that he is an ace at, you never know what’s next and as Team India reached Australia, he opened up on the challenges that he will have to brave under these dire situations. He believes that this is just a bad phase and he has all the required ingredients in his broth to stage a turnaround.
In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Harshal spoke about changing his line and length that has helped him improve his overall bowling. He was heard saying, “I've explored a little bit in terms of the lengths I can bowl with the slower ball. Usually when I bowl the slower balls, it's mainly fuller or at the good length. But now I've started bowling more shorter slower balls which are working out very well for me."
However, after being a part of a couple of practice sessions in Australia, he weighed in with his opinion about the circumstances and how that is going to shuffle his strategy accordingly. The RCB quick said, “It's obviously quite cold. We're slowly acclimatising. The atmosphere is amazing with the team and we're looking forward to building up to the first game [against Pakistan in Melbourne on October 23]. In these two weeks, the idea is to acclimatise to the weather and skill-wise, adapt quickly and by the time our first game comes around we should be in our peak physical and mental condition."
India played their first warm-up game against Western Australia today where they emerged victorious after an excellent final spell from Arshdeep Singh who sealed the fate of the contest after India put up a decent batting display.
