That for me was a very, very special moment: Virat Kohli on his favourite innings in West Indies and what followed
Team India will be involved in a battle with West Indies that will see the two teams go head-to-head against each other across all formats, beginning with a couple of Tests followed by three ODIs and five T20Is.
Coming off a difficult defeat in the World Test Championship final against Australia, India will be hoping for a resonating start to the WTC cycle of 2023-25 while they will also have their eyes on the upcoming World Cup that will be played later on the year in the latter’s turf. As a preparatory chapter for the quadrennial extravaganza, Indian cricket fans’ focus will be on the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, who are expected to be the chief architects for the Men in Blue come October and November.
The Indian cricketers are busy putting in the hard yards during the day and as per a few videos that have surfaced online, Kohli has ensured that outside the practice sessions, they have ample time to interact with the rising cricketers while also sharing the frame with the Caribbean icons of the sport.
Talking about icons, Sir Vivian Richards and Kohli have forged a bond over the years that is one of the finest that the sport has ever seen. Paying a small tribute to Sir Vivian and also talking about his favourite cricketing moment in West Indies, Virat Kohli rekindled memories of 2016, a year that saw the former Indian captain taking flight to unfathomable heights.
Kohli was seen talking on “Follow The Blues” a show by Star Sports, as he said, “My favourite memory obviously is Antigua. I got my first-ever double hundred in Test cricket in Antigua in front of Sir Vivian Richards. That for me was a very, very special moment and then he met me in the evening as well and congratulated me. It can't get any better than that.”
