While the main Indian contingent prepares for the summit clash against New Zealand in England, the second string team faces a unique challenge. The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team will head to the island nation for a limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.

Earlier this week, the BCCI senior selection committee announced a 20-member squad for the white-ball series. Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy and Nitish Rana are among the newcomers to the squad. The board has asked its players to gather in Mumbai on June 14 to begin the mandatory quarantine process.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the team members have been requested to undergo an RT-PCR test before entering the bubble in Mumbai. The team will go through quarantine for a period of 14 days. Upon their arrival in Colombo, the players will once again undergo quarantine for three days. After completing the quarantine period, the players will be permitted to train in smaller groups for two days (July 02-04). The whole team will assemble and begin full-fledged training from July 6.

India will take on Sri Lanka in three ODIs and as many T20Is. The ODIs will be played on July 13, 16, and 18, with the T20Is taking place on July 21, 23, and 25. All the matches will be played at a single venue, R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

India’s squad: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (VC), Varun Chakravarthy, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya.
