Suryakumar Yadav to Mohammed Shami: Top 3 performers for India against South Africa
Despite a valiant fight from Team India at Perth, it was South Africa who relished the last laugh as Aiden Markram and David Miller showcased a robust command over their nerves and guided the Proteas home. Here are our top three performers from the thriller in Perth last evening.
1. Suryakumar Yadav
India’s solitary beacon of deliverance in the midst of some nasty doldrums, Suryakumar Yadav was dedicated to his cause and despite a steady tumble of those wickets at the other end, he motored along well with Dinesh Karthik and just when it felt that the game was slipping away from India, he took over the reins and played some neat strokes to keep the Men in Blue stay in the hunt. He smashed an excellent 68 from just 40 balls to give something to the bowlers to defend as India rode high on his blitz to spark a fight.
2. Arshdeep Singh
The young left-arm seamer was once again impressive as he removed two of South Africa’s finest batters in a span of just three balls. Drifting the ball both ways, Arshdeep breathed fire last night. On the Australian surfaces where pace is a major weapon that can always prove to be the unravelling of the batters, the Indian pace rookie registered incredible figures of 4-0-25-2.
3. Mohammed Shami
Despite bagging just one wicket on the night, Mohammed Shami simply didn’t let the leash go from his hands. He was picture-perfect with his execution, bowled some real good hard length and retaliated with a handful of nasty chin-rattling bumpers. He was even moving the ball around which deterred the South African batters from going up against the experienced Indian quick. He ended his day with incredible numbers of 4-0-13-1.
