Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj come good in the latest ICC ODI rankings
In the latest ODI rankings released by ICC, Indian opener Shubman Gill took a massive leap on the batting charts, climbing up to third position after an unbeaten 67 against Nepal in Asia Cup 2023.
Mohammed Siraj held onto his 8th spot in the ODI bowlers’ rankings after picking up three important wickets against Nepal as well.
Shubman Gill’s form was questioned repeatedly after the young opener failed to convert those starts against West Indies while also putting up a below par show against Pakistan, despite negotiating the movement early on.
However, when Nepal came knocking, Gill emerged in flying colours, whacking the ball away to put up an assuring knock that did help the fans regain their faith in the superstar.
The match-winning knock from Gill helped him gain a career-high of 750 points while bringing him closer to Babar Azam and Rassie van der Dussen, who are currently occupying the 1st and the 2nd spot respectively.
RCB pace ace Josh Hazlewood sits comfortably at the top of the ICC ODI bowlers list with 705 points while Mitchell Starc is in second place with 686 points. Mohammed Siraj held on to that 8th spot after a phenomenal display against Nepal.
RCB all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga found himself in the top 10 list of the all-rounders with 224 points, stationed in the 9th position of the rankings. Come another Indo-Pakistan clash, expect to see some massive movements in the rankings with the tournament heading into the knockouts in Sri Lanka.
