Shreyas Iyer may get ruled out of IPL 2021
Shreyas Iyer’s shoulder injury which he picked up during the first ODI against England may rule him out of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to issue a statement, it has been speculated that Iyer has suffered a tear that will require him to go for surgery, effectively ruling him out of IPL 2021.
Iyer is the captain of Delhi Capitals, whom he led to the finals last year.
"Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15 - stay strong captain - hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup," co-owner of Delhi Capitals Parth Jindal tweeted earlier today.
The first ODI had also seen a few other injuries with vice-captain Rohit Sharma, England captain Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings getting injured.
Rohit Sharma was hit on the right elbow off a Mark Wood delivery, however, it’s understood that the extent of the injury is not serious.
Morgan, who leads Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, split the webbing between his right thumb and index finger needed four stitches. Morgan, though, batted later in the match, and that could be a sign of relief for the KKR management. Billings, who too plays for DC, had sprained his while diving to stop the boundary.
