Shanker Basu reveals Virat Kohli's fitness mantra

As the entire world is evolving in order to adapt to a better living process, workouts to keep one at the peak of his or her fitness, the sports industry has also been heading down the same path to ensure that it embraces the most adaptive ways to maintain an individual’s fitness levels.

Talking about an evolving fitness regime, RCB’s strength and conditioning trainer, Shanker Basu opened up about what exactly are the changes that he personally is supervising to improve the fitness standards of the RCB players.

“We can’t actually do the same thing over and over again. It has to change. One programme generally lasts for one year. Every year we need to start tweaking and changing. You do a neat analysis and figure out what is needed for the moment and work towards it. It is like having a GPS route map and going towards it,” said Shanker Basu.

Speaking about Virat’s mantra of fitness he said, “I can talk about Virat for sure. It’s very simple things, boring things and he can do it consistently for years together. That is his mantra. Eat well. Sleep well. Train well. Repeat.”

Playing the IPL for 2 months under the gruelling Indian summer tests a player's fitness to the brink. Over the years, the evolving player fitness has kept them in good stead while entertaining us during the season.
