Shanker Basu, RCB’s strength and conditioning coach, shed light on what exactly are the fitness plans going forward keeping in mind the fitness aspect of a cricketer.
He would say, “For Virat we are mainly trying to build muscle mass now. We are mainly focusing on the mass. T20 also needs an explosive attire on the field while force-production is a by-product of T20. It is a mandatory thing for him to become stronger. He is also having a world cup around the corner. From long distance goal to a short distance goal, it’s the same.”
Basu would further state, “What excites me is that he would come as a child still today. In fact, he would still be as energetic as he was when he was 19 or 20. In fact, the enthusiasm has not come down even by 1 percent. In fact, it has gone up by 1 percent more. The drive and the steely resolve he have got is so inspirational for everyone.”
