Ruturaj Gaikwad named captain of Indian men's squad for Asian Games 2023
BCCI have picked a flurry of fresh faces in the Indian squad for the Asian Games 2023, which will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. A week ago, the apex cricket body in India announced that the Men and the Women in Blue will be participating in Asian Games 2023 which is a first in itself.
Amongst the young faces that are a part of the Indian squad for the Asian Games, notable names include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and Jitesh Sharma. As the ICC Men’s World Cup is slated to kickstart in India just two days ahead of the conclusion of the Asian Games, BCCI opted to go for a second-string side to represent India.
BCCI has retained six players who will be participating in the T20Is against West Indies namely Jaiswal, Tilak, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan. Rinku Singh who was an absolute driving force for KKR in IPL 2023 has also been named to be a part of the Indian squad.
Alongside Jitesh, his Punjab Kings teammate, Prabhsimran Singh is the other wicket-keeping option that India will have at the Asian Games 2023. The reserve players for India include the likes of Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Sai Sudharsan and capped players Venkatesh Iyer and Deepak Hooda.
