Rohit Sharma cops a blow on his arm during optional training
Team India had a momentary injury scare as their captain, Rohit Sharma was struck on the arm during an optional practice session ahead of the semis where the present players had to brave throwdowns and some menacing drift from Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur.
The Indian skipper copped a nasty hit while facing throwdowns as one of the deliveries nipped back, bobbled up from length and struck Rohit on his forearm, as reported by Cricbuzz. The team’s support staff instantly ran to his aid as the Indian captain contorted in agony. After a brief consultation, Rohit did take strike again but eventually relinquished the session given a rising sensation of pain.
The report further stated Rohit didn’t leave the nets facility, icing his distressed forearm with Paddy Upton flanking him.
However, after half an hour, Rohit Sharma returned to the nets and initially despite being ginger with the movement of his forearm, went all guns blazing soon after and batted without any pain at all. The Indian captain is yet to find his stride in the latest edition of the T20 World Cup as he has only struck a solitary half-century with paltry numbers straddling the knock.
The report added that it was an optional training session of which only Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma were a part. Team India and its fans will be hoping that the scare is nothing but that, and Skipper Sharma will lead his men onto the field on Thursday against England at the Adelaide Oval.
