In a telling blow to RCB’s campaign on the very night that they incurred their first loss of the tournament against KKR, head coach Sanjay Bangar revealed that pacer Reece Topley has been ruled out of IPL 2023 due to injury.

In an interview on the sidelines during RCB’s game against KKR, Sanjay Bangar said, “Reece, unfortunately, had to go back home because he has been ruled out of the tournament. We tried our best to keep him here, but the treatment and the experts suggest that he is going to be out of action for some time."

Topley had a wonderful first game against the Mumbai Indians where he bagged the crucial wicket of Cameron Green and was absolutely electric in the field, only to hurt himself after his knee got stuck into the turf and he fell awkwardly on his shoulder.

Bangar further mentioned that RCB will be looking to replace Topley in due course of time, with the squad already plagued by the absence of Rajat Patidar for the whole season.

RCB’s next fixture will be against the Lucknow Super Giants on 10th April as they return home to the Chinnaswamy stadium, hoping to turn the tide around.
