Really happy for everyone – Smriti Mandhana delighted with India-W’s collective brilliance against Ireland
Smriti Mandhana continued with her dream run as she smashed another 73, a knock which played a driving factor in India's win against Ireland at Rajkot. Her sizzling knock, alongside Pratika Rawal's brilliance, saw India get off to a flyer and there was no turning around for the hosts from thereon in what was a rollicking batting performance.
Leading the side in absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, Mandhana was delighted at the fact that India batted superbly. She also underlined her chemistry with Pratika while shedding further light on the crucial roles that the partnerships had to play in India’s transcendence.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Smriti said, “We won the toss, chose to bat. I am really happy for everyone. Jemi, Pratika and Harleen got us to 370. I am happy with the efforts of the fielding unit.”
Highlighting her partnership with Pratika Rawal up front, Mandhana added, “It is a new partnership with Pratika. She has a mature head on her shoulder. Really happy to have her at the other end. We take the singles and doubles. That has helped us in our three 100 run partnerships.”
She concluded with a message for the bowling unit, stating, “This is a WC year. It is a new bowling unit. But they have been strike bowlers for domestic units. They all have the variations. It is a blessing to have them in the side.”
