RCB Podcast: Bold and Beyond - You should leave the sport when people ask why not when – Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik proved to be an evolutionary force for RCB in his last three seasons, prior to calling it quits from the IPL. Establishing himself as the Finisher Supreme, DK ran riot with the bat while also living up to his credentials of being an excellent wicket-keeper.
In the teaser released for the RCB Podcast: Bold and Beyond with Dinesh Karthik, the former wicket-keeper revealed how he knew that it was time for him to draw curtains on his career as a cricketer.
Karthik said, “The moment I knew that they were not going to pick me for the Indian team, I was almost done. My whole aim throughout my career was to represent the country and to do the best that I can.”
He further added, “In the lead-up to the IPL, I was playing domestic cricket. When I knew that I couldn’t represent the country anymore, I knew that my training would not be the same that it would be. I also believe that you should leave the sport when people ask why not when. So that also played a part.”
He concluded by saying, “At every stage of life, there is something interesting and you need to know to move onto that phase and I think this is the phase where I move onto some coaching, a little bit of commentary and then spending time with my kids. That’s how I bifurcated these three and I am happy to be there right now.”
