RCB Bold Diaries: Luke Williams on Smriti’s involvement in the auction planning
With the WPL auction around the corner, RCB-W’s head coach, Luke Williams opened up on how Smriti Mandhana’s presence is central to the squad and how the entire contingent comes together collectively eyeing to unearth the finest of talents from the Indian women’s circuit.
Talking on the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries, Luke Williams said, “Smriti is very involved in the entire planning and preparation phase. Fortunately, Smriti was in Australia playing for a month or two in the WBBL and also the series against Australia. We’ve spent a fair bit of time together and been able to talk through in depth about our planning and that is really nice to do that face to face rather than over the phone or in video calls.”
Luke also emphasized on the importance of scouting, stating, “Our scouting network and an analyst do a fantastic job to get every little information, we possibly could be after. When we go to make these decisions, the scouts watch so much cricket, we really trust their work and their thoughts and really appreciate what they do for us.”
He concluded with a word for the fans, stating, “It was my first season with RCB and I was absolutely blown away with the support, when we were at the Chinnaswamy and also whenever we played. That fandom is fantastic. We can’t wait to play next season, playing as defending champions and our support means so much to all of us.”
