If the defeat in the first Test against England for Team India wasn’t a telling blow already, they were dealt another major dent as Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second Test with injuries.

Middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan, left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar and all-rounder Washington Sundar have been added to the squad.

Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury on the fourth day of the Test match while Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps, as mentioned in the statement released by BCCI.

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Saurabh Sharma, who has 290 First-Class wickets at an average of 24.41, is going to be a part of the Indian squad for the second time. His earlier call-up came during India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2022, and the spinner comes into the squad on the back of a five-wicket haul that helped India A pick up a win against the England Lions.

Sarfaraz Khan, who blasted a 160-ball 161 against the England Lions has also earned a call-up, with the youngster having pushed for a spot with consistent performances, highlighted by his staggering 69.85 average, with 14 centuries in FC cricket.

India's updated Squad for 2nd Test vs England: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, Sourabh Kumar.
