Just ahead of the prized Asia Cup that will be witnessing India going head-to-head with other continental giants, the Men in Blue suffered a massive blow as their Head coach, Rahul Dravid, has tested positive for Covid 19. He won’t be travelling with the team at least for the time being to the UAE for the continental battle.

BCCI released a statement on Tuesday that read, “Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report."

As reported by Cricbuzz, Rahul Dravid was scheduled to depart for Dubai on Tuesday (August 23rd) from Bengaluru. However, the COVID-19 development has deferred his plans at the moment. In case he fails to recover ahead of the Asia Cup, VVS Laxman will be taking care of the contingent in his absence.

The apex cricket authority for cricket in India will be making the necessary travel arrangements for Laxman who is currently in Zimbabwe where the team just finished their three-match ODI series with the hosts, securing a clean sweep and bagging the third consecutive ODI series win away from home.

India will be starting their Asia Cup campaign against their arch-rivals, Pakistan on the 28th of August.
