Pure team effort – Rajat Patidar on RCB’s clinical win against MI
Rajat Patidar moved up to the second position of the top-scorers list in IPL 2026 with a tally of 195 runs from four games, five adrift of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who is stationed in the pole position. Patidar’s blazing knock of 53 from just 17 balls left MI stranded in their island of despair for the third straight game.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Patidar opened up on how incredible the crowd was at Wankhede. He also shed some light on the fearless approach that he has shown until now. Patidar’s significant shift while facing against the pacers has been the highlight of this season until now. He explained the dynamics on that front as well.
Pointing out the brilliant ambience in Wankhede, Patidar said, “Feel amazing. I think, whenever we come here in Mumbai, especially at this ground, the atmosphere, the fans, and playing along with them and playing in the full-packed stadium - that's a different feeling.”
Highlighting the solid batting showdown, Patidar added, “It was, I would say it's a more clarity about every individual, I would say. And the way Virat bhai and Salt started the innings, I think that kept us in the driving seat. Then a good cameo by me and Tim (David), I think that was a pure team effort.”
Underscoring his proclivity towards facing pace, Patidar added, “To be honest, people used to say that I love playing spin, but if someone asks me, I would say I love playing fast bowling. And playing fast bowlers on this track, I think it's a very good track to play a fast bowler. So I think I love (facing) fast bowling."
