Two-time world-cup winning captain and one of India’s greatest finishers and wicket-keeper batsmen of all time, MS Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket. Dhoni posted a video on social media to inform about his decision. Dhoni last played for India in the semi-final of 2019 World Cup and was on a sabbatical since then. In the last few months, Dhoni was also dropped from the list of contracted players, and there were speculations about his future with the Indian team.

It could not be ascertained at the time of writing if he has retired from club cricket as well. Just a day ago, Dhoni arrived in Chennai to be with the Chennai Super Kings whom he has been captaining since the start of the IPL.

In a video posted on social media, Dhoni used the famous poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi’s ‘Main Pal do Pal Ka Shayar Hun’ from Hindi movie Kabhi Kabhi to thank his fans for all the support over the years. The video had images of his memorable moments in International cricket, and none from the IPL, which indicates we will get to see him on the cricket field in the Indian Premier League.

Following Dhoni's retirement another CSK legend, Suresh Raina announced his retirement too.
