Lucknow Super Giants hope to stun rampant Mumbai Indians as race for IPL 2023 playoffs spot heats up

Fourth-placed Lucknow Super Giants will be walking into their penultimate group stage game and in what will be a battle of survival as third-placed Mumbai Indians also will be keen on a win to get one step closer to the IPL 2023 playoffs.

Lucknow Super Giants will be heading to this encounter on the back of a win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a clinical run chase as Krunal Pandya’s fine spell was handy enough to keep the Orange Army in check. Later, an inspiring show from Prerak Mankad laced with an insane showdown from Nicholas Pooran who fired 44 from 13 balls steered the Giants home with four balls to spare.

Mumbai Indians too come into the clash on the back of a win, having managed to rage past the defending champions, riding high on the blitz from the blade of Suryakumar Yadav who blasted his maiden IPL century while Akash Madhwal’s magical 3/31 and  Piyush Chawla’s 2/26 helped Mumbai secure the bragging rights.

A win for MI in this clash will take them to a place of the stronghold at 16 points with a game in hand, while LSG will get to 15 points if they win. While both teams will not be knocked out if they fail to win, a victory from his clash will be a massive shot in the arm ahead of their last group stage game.
