Delhi Capitals hope to spoil Punjab Kings’ party as return fixture pits two old rivals

Two teams who have had struggles trying to break free from the chains of the oscillating fortunes of the points table will be crossing swords in a high-octane encounter that would see Punjab Kings taking on Delhi Capitals in Match 64 of IPL 2023. Punjab have been a part of 12 fixtures and has secured six wins with a net run rate of -0.268 while Delhi Capitals, who have already been shown the door and are no more in contention for a spot in the playoffs have registered four wins at a net run rate of -0.686.

Punjab Kings will be coming to this battle on the back of a swashbuckling victory against the Delhi Capitals as Prabhsimran Singh carved an incredible feat of his own, racking up his maiden IPL century while a motivated show from youngster Harpreet Brar, who chronicled figures of 4/30 left Capitals teetering along the edge of chaos.

Delhi Capitals would be hoping to avenge their earlier defeat as they lost steam midway albeit a spirited start from their captain, David Warner, who smashed 54 from just 27 balls to set the right tone for his teammates. He was aptly accompanied by Phil Salt, only for the latter to crumble under the pump and hand the advantage for the Kings to ram through and leave the opposition stuttering.

A win for Punjab Kings would further enhance their playoffs chances with a game in hand, albeit their net run rate being a serious question. A win for DC, meanwhile would leave Punjab a lot to do in their final league stage game, a situation they would not want to put themselves in.
