KL Rahul to miss the last two Test matches of Border-Gavaskar series
Team India opener KL Rahul will miss the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia, the BCCI has announced via a Media release. Rahul who was one of the plethora of choices for the opening slot had not gotten a look-in in the first two Test matches, will return to India immediately.
“KL Rahul sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets at the MCG during Team India’s practice session on Saturday. The wicketkeeper-batsman will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he will need about three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength,” read the media release.
KL Rahul had only featured in the limited-overs leg of the tour down under and could have been in contention to play the Pink Test in Sydney starting 7th of January, given his Karnataka teammate Mayank Agarwal’s indifferent form in the first two Test matches. However, he will return to his hometown of Bangalore where he will rehabilitate from his injury at the National Cricket Academy. “He will now return to India and head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation of his injury,” added BCCI’s release.
