Just to see him there makes you believe that miracles can happen – Ravi Shastri on Rishabh Pant
The Indian batters failed to put on a show on Day 1 as the Australian bowlers skittled them out for 150. However, amidst the dark skies, standing tall like a superhero, Rishabh Pant provided the charge for Team India. He scored a warring 37 which allowed the visitors to get themselves to a fighting total alongside the hard-hitting debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Pant’s arrival to Australia has been a miracle of sorts as he met with a life-threatening accident. However, from there, it has been a journey to get back on his feet and ever since he has come back to the ground, he has looked in great nick. During a conversation with Adam Gilchrist on Fox Sports during his knock, Ravi Shastri heaped praises on the southpaw for his sheer never-give-up attitude.
Shastri said, “Just to see him there makes you believe that miracles can happen because when I went to see him in hospital one month after that injury, he told me his right leg was at a right angle when he got out of the car and he had to push it back into a straight line before going to hospital.”
He further added, “It’s a miracle of sorts he can stand on two legs, let alone wicketkeeping and going out to bat because we love to see characters like him. He’s a personality and Australian crowds are lucky to have him here playing.”
