Just go out and express ourselves – Suryakumar Yadav on India’s brand of cricket

Team India fought hard at Gqeberha in the second T20I, only to slip up in the dying embers of the contest against a formidable South Africa unit, which never really looked fazed despite a monumental total on the board and rain having a say.

Batting first, India posted 180/7, thanks to Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav, the two top-scorers of the Indian side who propelled the visitors to a reckoning total despite a questionable start. South Africa went after the Indian bowlers right from the word go and by the time they were done with the chase, they still had an over and a ball to spare.

Indian captain, Suryakumar Yadav, did bite the bullet and assured the fans that this is just a minor setback before they can get rolling again. Talking at the post-match conference, he highlighted the Indian flaws and also lauded South Africa for a fine performance.

SKY said, “At the halfway stage, I thought it was a par score but they batted beautifully in the first 5-6 overs and took the game away from us. It was the brand of cricket we were talking about, just go out and express ourselves.”

He concluded by saying, “It was tough with the wet ball, but we would face similar situations in the future and it's good learning for us. Looking forward to the third T20I.”

India and South Africa will clash for the third T20I, with the hosts keen on sealing a 2-0 win, while the Indian cricket team will want to level the series with a victory.
