The Indian women’s cricket team will be playing a one-off Test match against England starting on December 14th, and the Indian vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, had a few important thoughts to share ahead of the imperative clash between the two teams.

Talking in the pre-match press conference, Smriti said, “A lot has changed in women’s cricket, especially post 2017. We could see that change also in Wankhede when we were playing the T20Is.”

She further added, “The kind of crowds that have come in, the kind of support that we are getting, of course when you mention the pay equality and all of that, definitely women’s cricket is on the rise. However, more than that, I am really excited to wear the whites again at home and go out there and represent India. Representing India in whites is a different feeling altogether.”

India-W put up a resilient showdown against England-W in the recently concluded T20I series, although they went down fighting 2-1 with promises galore. Shreyanka Patil and Renuka Singh shined brightly with the ball, while Smriti scored an important 48 in the last match to help India craft a clinical victory.
