Jitesh Sharma reveals how his cricketing journey started by accident

Jitesh Sharma has been a fine force behind the stumps for RCB, while also making some extremely useful contributions with the bat. Over the last couple of seasons, Jitesh Sharma has been in fine form. However, his transcendence to glory didn’t come overnight.
Talking on one of the videos of RCB Bold Diaries, Sharma said, "A beautiful thing about small towns is that playing sports means going outside. Playing marbles, gilli danda, these were sports for us. Professionally no one thought about it much. From where I used to come, I used to enjoy playing football in my school, I used to skate and do gymnastics but I was never attracted to cricket.”
He continued, “I was in the 10th standard and I wanted to do NDA because I was interested in getting into the defence forces. In Maharashtra there was a rule at that time that if you represented the state in sports when you were in your 10th or 12th standard, you would get 25 marks or 4 percent extra.”
Jitesh further added, “So one day my friend came to me and told me that ‘Let’s go and give trials, we’ll get 4% more.’ I said that okay, we went, there was a register to write our names and the role of a batter or bowler. So in whichever category there were lesser names, all three of us put our names under ‘wicket-keeper’. That is how it all started.”
