Jasprit Bumrah returns home for the birth of his first child
As India gear up for their clash against Nepal, they will be without Jasprit Bumrah’s services for this solitary fixture. The pace spearhead has returned to India amidst the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 tournament, citing personal reasons.
There were concerns about Bumrah’s injury which may just have sparked fears in the Indian camp. However, BCCI has assured that there aren’t any injury concerns about the express pacer. However, the world now knows that he was back home for the birth of his child.
Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. Bumrah didn’t get an opportunity to showcase his bowling flair against Pakistan as incessant rain forced the match to be called off before Pakistan’s chase. The India vs Pakistan match was scheduled to be Bumrah’s proper return to the Indian squad after he captained a second string side against Ireland, a series in which he picked four wickets from two matches.
While the pacer will miss the Nepal game, however, Bumrah is expected to be available for selection in the Super Four matches onwards. In what is a crucial Asia Cup campaign ahead of the World Cup at home in October, Bumrah will hold the aces in terms of India’s bowling unit.
