Jasprit Bumrah named in India’s squad as BCCI announced squad for Afghanistan T20Is

BCCI announced the squad for India’s upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and much to the joy of Indian fans, Jasprit Bumrah is set to return to the international fold. Apart from Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana will also make their returns provided they all get fitness clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence.

Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel will also return to the squad after being rested from India’s most recent T20Is against Zimbabwe. Varun Chakravarthy, who injured his hamstring during the series against England, is also back in the squad.

Bumrah couldn’t play the third ODI against England in July followed by the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to an injury in his left knee. Sundar and Rana suffered hamstring injuries during the England tour while Reddy had hurt his quadriceps during India’s ODI series against Afghanistan.

Shreyas Iyer will lead the Indian side which features Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who bagged the Player of the Series award against Zimbabwe as one of the major forces in the Indian batting unit. India will play three T20Is on September 13th, 15th and 17th. The games will be played in Delhi, although the series will be hosted by Afghanistan.
