Jaiswal’s a guy that will probably get more than 40 Test hundreds – Glenn Maxwell
Yashasvi Jaiswal spearheaded the Indian charge phenomenally in the second innings at Perth with a blazing 161. He had company from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli as India inflicted a bombs-away assault on the Aussie bowlers. After witnessing the damage Down Under, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell opened up on the brilliance of this exciting youngster.
Even in the first innings, Jaiswal got out while trying to play an attacking shot which earned him flak. However, sticking to his guns, the hard-hitting opener came out all guns blazing in the second innings and slew the Aussie bowlers without any mercy as India posted a staggering target of 534 in the second innings.
Talking on The Grade Cricketer’ Podcast, Glenn Maxwell said, “He's (Jaiswal) a guy that will probably get more than 40 Test hundreds, and write some different records. He's got a great ability to adapt to different conditions.”
He further added, “He played a lot of shots that will be on highlights packages, but the stuff he did in between... the balls he left, the balls he got in behind... his footwork is pretty crisp; doesn't seem to have many weaknesses. Plays the short ball well, drives well, plays spin unbelievably well and can absorb pressure for periods of time.”
Maxi concluded with a stern warning for Australia, stating, “It's going to be scary if Australia can't find a way to stop him over the next few games."
India will be playing the second Test against Australia from 6th December and it is going to be a day-night affair at Adelaide.
