It’s starting off a domino effect – Virat Kohli on the rise of cricket in the United States

With the first T20 World Cup slated to be played in the United States, the excitement levels are already through the roof and the fans are absolutely loving it. With almost a packed house in the warm-up games, it goes without saying that the stands are going to be even fuller when the tournaments kickstarts.

With the hype skyrocketing, Virat Kohli opened up on the USA making wonders happen in a video that was released in collaboration of the US Consulate General in Mumbai and the Indian cricket team.

Shedding some light on the rise of cricket in the US, VK said, “Honestly, I never thought that we would be playing cricket in any form in the States. But now it’s a reality and that tells you about the growing impact of the sport in the world and the United States more than willing to accept the change and be the first ones on a global scale to accept it, in a way with the World Cup which I think is a great start. It’s the ideal way to begin.”

He further added, “I think it’s gonna have a huge impact and it’s starting off a kind of a domino effect and I hope that it carries off for a long period of time. And we have enough people from our regions to keep the game up and alive in the States and make the others more aware about what it feels like to play cricket and watch cricket and I think it’s got great potential with the MLC as well. There’s already franchise cricket happening there. I think it’s moving in the right direction.”

Virat Kohli wasn’t a part of the warm-up match between India and Bangladesh but he will be back in action as the Men in Blue kickstart their campaign in the T20 World Cup against Ireland on the 5th of June in the Nassau International County Stadium.
