It's showtime at the Oval as India meets England for the first ODI

It’s showtime at the Kensington Oval as Team India returns to action in the 50-over format with England hoping to avenge their stutter in the T20Is. This, however, would be a totally different ball game for the visitors as England would be welcoming back Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow back into the playing eleven - the trio playing an ODI together for the first time since the 2019 world cup.

The Men in Blue took a new approach in the T20Is as they went all out from the word go and the results were for everyone to see, despite a handful of blemishes. England takes to this approach in both T20Is and ODIs and it will be interesting to see how India responds to the ultra-aggressive tone of the English hosts.

Both the sides are in phenomenal form in ODIs with England coming to this contest fresh from creating a world record of the highest runs scored in an ODI inning while India’s last ODI stint saw them vanquishing the men from the Caribbean at home.

India’s last tour to the Oval saw them securing the all-important 2-1 lead in the Test series over England as Rohit Sharma blasted a crucial century. Bairstow is also in the form of his life, spanning from the IPL to the ongoing contests, as the runs keep on flowing for the English biffer.

Team News:

If reports are to be believed, Team India may miss the services of Virat Kohli for the opening ODI as he copped a groin strain in the final T20I. However, something consolidated is yet to come up.

England will be welcoming the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes. The return of the menacing English trifecta would mean that India will have to outperform their triumphant showdown in the T20Is.
