It's Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards: Virat Kohli on the G.O.A.T debate
Virat Kohli has been off to a grand start in the T20 World Cup with two consecutive half-centuries coming against Pakistan and Netherlands. He has been clinical in his execution of strokes and has been the vanguard of the Indian batting unit that has so far seemed immaculate in its approach despite a couple of false starts.
Kohli’s starry performance at the MCG and the SCG has once again sparked the age-old debate of who is the actual Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T). Well, many have reasons to believe that Virat is in the league already, but the former Indian captain himself believes that if the game has seen something legendary as the title would describe, it is definitely not him.
Talking on Star Sports, Kohli said, “No, I wouldn't consider myself the GOAT of cricket. For me, only 2 people qualify for it. It's Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards.”
Sachin and Virat were teammates for five years before the former called it a day in international cricket, putting an end to a glittering career that transcended all possible batting records.
Vivian Richards was one of the greatest ever batters to grace the sport and the kind of domination weaved by him back in his days was nothing short of terrorizing for the bowlers.
Virat has also lifted himself beyond the ordinary and despite a rare slump in form recently, has come back to the fore.
